VIBE tips: Here's a list of top-clutter offenders to give you ideas for areas to tackle:
- Computer desktop: If your messy desktop is giving you a headache, it's time to tidy up. Organize files into folders and delete what you don't need.
- Refrigerator: Take stock of what you have and clear out what has gone bad. Knowing what you have already can help you save money at the store – no need to buy more salad dressing when you already have three unopened bottles in there.
- Closet: Getting dressed can be overwhelming if you can't see what's in your closet. Organize your shoes, match up your socks, and clear a space for your jeans. Donate or sell anything you haven't worn in a year.
- Car: Grab a trash bag and get to work. Your car is a big financial investment, so take care of it by keeping it clean.
- Garage: Be prepared for a last-minute summer adventure. Clean up the garage and find where you put that backpack, sleeping pad and headlamp.
- That "one" drawer: We all have one. Maybe yours is in the kitchen or maybe it's in the bathroom. Wherever you throw random things, clean it out.
- Your desk: Organizing your desk can save you time and stress. Keep the things you need regularly within an arm's reach and file (or trash) papers that are just taking up room.
- Your finances: Get fiscally organized, make a goal or two, and you just might find you've got enough for that trip to Mexico after all.
- The yard: Start prepping for your summer vegetable garden now. A little raking, planting, and good old-fashioned sweat equity go a long way.
-
Your social calendar. Are you guilty of saying "yes" to everything you're invited to? Are there people in your life that are more "frenemy" than friend? Positive relationships are one of the cornerstones of well-being, so make sure you're fostering the friendships that make you happy.
