Vulcan FOOD FIGHTERS - PROGRAM SUMMARY

Vulcan's Food Fighters program has been a smashing success three years running and there's no slowing down for 2012. From overflowing food boxes, to bake sales, car washes and barbeques, your imaginative, generous participation has made a huge difference in the lives of Seattle's hungry. Way to go, heroes!

Contribute, Collect, Volunteer

Vulcan employees can contribute to Cherry Street Food Bank in a number of ways:

Give Food

Think inside the box. Place those badly needed, nonperishable items in collection boxes in the 505 building, located in the south lounges on floors 7-9, and the south galleys on floors 10-11. Each department will be assigned one month of the year to collect and deliver that month's food donations on their volunteer day. Your cans of tuna, jars of peanut butter, or packages of diapers and other non-perishables will be precious to a struggling family.

Give Money

All personal donations to Northwest Harvest are tax-deductible; the organization will send you a receipt to use when preparing your taxes.

Online donations. You can support Northwest Harvest by simply contributing online to Northwest Harvest, Northwest Harvest. After receiving the donation receipt emailed to you from the organization, forward it to! Donations at Vulcan. Your funds will pull double duty, being fully matched (up to $2,000 per person) by the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation.

Payroll Deductions: The easy, painless, timely way to give! Just fill out a payroll deduction form and indicate whether you want a one-time or recurring deduction. (If you check the "recurring" box, please note that deductions will be withdrawn every paycheck until December 31, 2012.) Pick as large or small an amount as you wish—the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation will match up to $2000 of your donation, making your gift twice as powerful.

Checks: The good old-fashioned way to donate is oh-so-welcome, too. Just make your check out to "Northwest Harvest" and deliver to Barry Snarr in the Finance department.

Fundraisers: Vulcan employees came up with a host of clever fundraising activities in previous years. Whether you're planning a bake sale, a barbeque, a soup kitchen or something similar this year, let Corporate Communications know about your plans in. We'll help you promote it for optimum success!

Give Time

Roll up your sleeves! Volunteer with your colleagues during a half-day work shift at Cherry Street Food Bank, organized by your department's team lead. Not only will you have a blast working with your pals, stocking, organizing or distributing food, you'll personally see how your hard work and contribution make a real difference in people's lives.

Do good...more often! For those who enjoyed their volunteer experience on "First Mondays" and would like to do more, an additional four hours of volunteering will be compensated by Vulcan on "Final Fridays" of the month, either at Cherry Street Food Bank or the organization's Kent distribution warehouse.

Getting there: Your team may reserve a Vulcan fleet car to reach Cherry Street or the Kent warehouse, or if you prefer to drive your own vehicle, you can expense your gas mileage. Alternately, take public transportation. Check out bus routes to either destination.

Cherry Street Food Bank address: 711 Cherry St., Seattle, WA.

Kent distribution warehouse address: 22220 W. Valley Hwy., Kent, WA.

It all adds up! Thanks for being heroes.
